Mahogany Rey: Great Value, Warm Tones

My Mahogany Rey Guitar came with a perfect action set-up. Easy to play, robust sound. I am 70 years old and have two kinds of arthritis, therefore a low action is required. The Rey meets the challenge
I did opt for a different set of strings, although the strings that came from Orangewood are excellent and perfect for the factory set-up. I replaced them with a set of custom light strings due to my arthritic hands. Of course the replacement strings buzzed slightly so I loosened the truss rod about 1/8 of a turn to eliminate the buzzing. (Warning: Anytime you tighten a truss rod it is essential that the string tension be completely loosened first!) The lighter strings accommodated my finger picking style, though I must acknowledge I lost a tiny bit of volume. It was a good trade-off....even easier playability for a slight loss of volume.
Around the fire pit or in a small, informal gathering the Rey is more than adequate. Mic-ed through my Fender Acoustrasonic amplifier, it sounds very natural as an accompaniment instrument in a small room of less than a hundred people.
In the house I play my Rey more than any other of my other four guitars. I named her "Paisley" for the Paisley pick guard I made for her.
I love Paisley.

Excellent value!

I did a lot of research into guitars for beginners and this guitar was such a great value for what it provides. I’ve had it for two weeks and I’m so happy with it! My fingers hurt because I’m practicing so much!

Great guitar

I have wanted a Rey for a while, since reading a positive review about the guitar. As soon as the guitar became available I ordered it right away. And so glad I did because the guitar sounds great and I am finding it easy to play.

We're so glad you're enjoying your Rey! Thanks for choosing Orangewood!
