I've had this guitar for about 3 months now, and have had a great time with it! For starters, it came out of the box in pristine condition. I was nervous about how it would be shipped, but Orangewood seems to do a fantastic job securing these instruments for shipping, so zero issues there!
Now for the sound. I have been playing for about 2.5 years now, and before buying this guitar, I had only ever played dreadnaughts. With this guitar being the smaller grand concert body shape, I expected the sound to struggle, particularly on the lower end. Not so! While the low end is certainly less deep and powerful than it would be on a dreadnaught (to be expected), this guitar has a lovely warm sound that fills the room quite nicely, both for strumming and playing fingerstyle. It also holds a tune very nicely once the fresh strings are stretched... which brings me to the professional setup prior to shipping.
I have never had a guitar set up personally, but I can't imagine it would be much better than this! No sharp frets, action is optimal, and, as mentioned before, tune holds very nicely. Orangewood also includes a tool to adjust the truss rod when the time comes, which is a very nice touch. I couldn't have been happier with it!
Overall, this is a fantastic value, especially if you're someone who is just starting out, or if you just want a guitar for the living room. If you're looking to use this guitar on stage, like in a church or with a band, I would recommend looking into the Oliver Live for the electronics, but outside of that, this is a fantastic purchase, and I am absolutely loving it!
Got the Oliver in mid December and have been loving it since. I recently picked up playing after a brief try at playing. An excellent instructor and a thoroughly enjoyable guitar, entry level at that, does wonders. Thanks Orangewood for making such a fine instrument so affordable! I can’t wait to playing better so I can upgrade with another Orangewood!
Very well made. It was a gift for my son a d he is enjoying it.
I just got my new Oliver. Love it, I stopped playing for quite a few years. But I'm back this guitar is really good in all aspects. Well done Orangewood bringing music back into my life. Many Thanks!!
Very nice guitar for the price range. I was looking for a solid wood acoustic without electronics. The gig bag that came with it is probably one of the best I've had. Also makes it easy traveling around throwing it on like a backpack. The sound is good very deep and full where I like it. This is my first acoustic without a cutaway on the base of the neck, my only complaint really is slinkies are not really my thing on acoustic. Easy fix. Looks so good I wouldn't expect it in the price range it was. So kudos to Orangewood.
