After 40 years I trying to learn again. I am no expert on guitars by any stretch of the imagination but I love this guitar. The sound is mellow and warm and the workmanship is excellent. For the price you can’t go wrong!
My wife and I decided we want to learn to play guitar so I bought this one for her and ordered the Mason Live (over the FG830) for myself and let me tell you the Mason Live is beautiful. No regrets there. For her I was debating getting either the Brooklyn, the Echo on sale for $276, an FG800, or this one with a 10% off coupon. Well I bought this one and unfortunately the guitar I received has a few minor blemishes. There are a couple on the bridge, frets, and neck. The main one is a massive eye sore right at the bottom of the fretboard where the stain did not take well. Not super happy about it. I still think it is nice for around $210 but probably should have went with the Brooklyn or Echo for her. Compared to the FG800 we checked out at guitar center it is not on par. I am not going to send it back or anything but this guitar should have made it's way to the outlet pile in my opinion. Even though I am not 100% satisfied I still recommend this guitar. Buy it if it fits your budget and you can get a 10% off coupon, because blemishes aside it is still a really nice looking guitar. I want to make it clear that I am not bashing Orangewood. I really like Orangewood and their direct to consumer business model. I know I will buy more guitars from them in the future after I learn, just from the Melrose collection and above where I know the quality is going to be there regarding the finish.

The size of this Oliver makes it perfect for a kidney transplant recipient to be able to hold and play guitar again! Now I can play for hours! Before, I'd get pooped out in a few minutes trying to play my big ole Godin Dreadnought.
The playability of this "Ollie" is superb and the fit and finish rivel guitars that I've paid much more money for in the past. Would buy one again in a heartbeat if some bugger were to steal her from me.
Thanks for reviewing your 'Ollie' Peter! Glad it's a good fit and you can play for hours. Enjoy!
Incredible value for a quality mahogany guitar. Delivery was fast I highly recommend.
I bought an Oliver mahogany for Christmas as a "play on the couch" guitar. It plays and sounds amazing for its price point. The only thing is that the tuners let it down. They look great, but they are not great at all. Lucky for me I had a set of standard Grovers from an old project and put them on. Presto! Now its a straight up great inexpensive guitar that I would highly recommend.
Thanks for the review Dwight! We're glad you had a set of tuners handy, but feel free to reach out to hello@orangewoodguitars.com any time for assistance with your order.
