Morgan Spruce Live, Looks, Feels and Sounds Great

I'm really happy with this guitar. The more I play it the more I like it! The Oranegwood purchase experience was as good any. I would buy from Orangewood again.

Thanks for your review, we're so glad to hear that your Orangewood inspires you to play!

Got a bad one, and they took care of it.

The Morgan Spruce live I originally ordered took some time to get. I ordered right before Christmas but had to wait due to low stock. No big deal. I was happy to wait.
I received the guitar and inspected it. There was some odd sanding by the first fret that felt like a wave under my fingers. In addition, it appeared to have a deep groove that was filled with finish on the neck. I contacted Orangewood and they were quick to offer a replacement or refund. I chose the replacement. I asked if they would be willing to cross ship it since I had waited so long in the first place. They agreed and about five days later, I had a new, amazing guitar.
The replacement has no noticeable blemishes. But this does not mean it is perfect. There are a couple of small things that could move this from a 4 star to a 5 star guitar.
First, I think the bridge might need a little sanding as there is a noticeable ring or chime sound coming from the high E string. I will check it out in a few weeks when I change the strings. This is where being able to play before buying is an advantage. I could have heard this in the shop and compared it to another.
Second, the tuning pegs are odd. They have a rubberized grip which is OK for me, but I could see some people not being a fan. The bigger issue is the amount of play in them. They are tight, but it seems to take about a quarter turn before it starts to adjust the string. I would prefer a more responsive tuner, but you know what? This thing holds its tune really well. I had to go out of town one weekend and when I came back the strings needed a very slight adjustment. Weird tuners, but they do the job.
Third and finally, the included Fishman pickup is fine through an amp, and does well on a direct in when recording or using an interface. But there seems to be little room for adjustment. The volume is either on, or barely able to be heard. The tone is either all highs, or barely any at all. A little playing with it and fine tuning and you will be good to go.
In the end, I will buy from them again. This is a great guitar from a company that provides great customer service.

Thanks for your review and for working with us Don!

Everything I’d hoped for!

I’ve had my first guitar, a Morgan Spruce Live for two weeks. After unboxing it I was amazed at the beauty and craftsmanship. I’d searched many reviews of other guitars in the same price range and knew what to look for inside the body and on the surface. It is constructed with care and the setup done prior to shipping was excellent. My buddy who has played expensive guitars for decades tried it out and said he liked it so much that he is considering getting one too. You can’t go wrong with Orangewood. Thank you for a great experience and a life long romance with this guitar!

Thanks for your review! Welcome to the Orangewood family!

So: I'm a bassist, not guitarist. And I'm more player than a collector, so I don't have a ton of instruments laying around — some, but not a ton. I already had a very good high-dollar acoustic guitar a former student gave me maybe ten years ago (it shall remain nameless, and besides, who cares, let's just say it's a VERY SOLID AXE). I honestly don't even know why I felt compelled to buy this Orangewood thang, but I did, and I'm so happy took the plunge. It's just such an inviting instrument to pick up and play, and, while it's cosmetically similar to the one I already own (midsize cutaway? I don't speak fluent guitar), it offers a great contrast tonally. While the big $ guitar has a certain warm balance of mids, this brand-new Orangewood has this cool brightness up top and a nice focus down low that I dig because it invites a little more aggression from me.
The thing is, each makes me like the other rather more, and that's really cool. And for the price point? Y'all are killing it! I would equally recommend you equally to first-time folks learning to play and seasoned pros looking to add some fun to their lives with equal confidence. Y'all keep on!
