Dive into the world of rubber bridge guitars, built for performance you can rely on. From the smooth feel of Ernie Ball flatwounds to the rock-solid stability of Grover open-gear tuners, every detail is dialed in for a seamless playing experience.
Juniper sounds great unplugged—but just wait until you run it through your favorite amp and pedals. The powerful Alnico 5 humbucker packs the perfect punch to all that mellowness. Let the soundscaping begin.
Using our parlor as the base, we tested a number of rubber-lined saddle designs to find the right thickness and adjustability. We then upgraded the bridge construction with additional reinforcement and added in a trapeze tailpiece. The result? A dreamy yet articulate sound.
Juniper is ready to play right out of the gig bag with a professional set up before shipment. When needed, you can easily fine-tune the guitar’s playability at home, using the headstock truss rod access, allowing for neck relief and adjustment.
I didn't really know what to expect from this guitar, as it's so different than any other I've played. It's presenting the same challenge that came with my first 12-string and my first ukulele, i.e., "what will I do with it?" I don't know yet, but I look forward to the exploration.
Mine is the mahogany top version, and it's as quiet as I expected with what is essentially a mute. The tonal balance is weighted toward bass acoustically, prompting the feeling that it was designed to be plugged in all the time. Plugging in confirms that, as it boosts the treble and midrange proportionally while enriching the bass for a smooth, jazz-like tone.
The Juniper Live is rather heavy, but the build quality is excellent. The top shows no signs of sinking (it even seems slightly arched) and the neck is true except for a slight fall-off above the 12th fret. Fit is tight and even, the interior is clean, the finish is closer to satin than matte, and the body binding is slightly rounded. The bone nut and Grover tuners are also nice touches.
The setup was very good. I have a few slightly rough fret ends and I had to loosen the truss rod about 1/4 turn to cut fret buzz, but those are minor issues, especially for a free setup, which is itself a bit of a luxury in this online, box-store world.
My only real concern is how long the rubber saddle will last, since the high E and B strings are already cutting in a bit. Time will tell.
On the whole, this is an excellent guitar that expands my collection instead of simply adding to it. Nicely done, Orangewood!
Hey Chris, thanks for the detailed review and we're so happy you're enjoying your Juniper so far!
Sounds amazing. Already adding to so many productions.
Need the Baritone too!
What a cool little guitar! The Juniper arrived setup very well. I expected to make adjustments for a high action. No, nothing was needed for this little gem. It sounds unique and takes pedals well. I'm as happy with the Orangewood Juniper as with any guitar that I own. It's mostly for how unique it's tone is and it's easy to play. I have a dozen or so acoustics and electrics. Usually a $400 guitar would not satisfy me like the Juniper does. It's fun to play and gives me plenty of cool tones. Buy one and see for yourself!
Thank you so much for the review! We’re thrilled to hear that you're enjoying your Juniper!
Love this guitar. Immediately rexorded an EP with it right out of the box!
Aweomse sauce rvetything about it 😛😛😛
