I was looking for a guitar that I could take with me to small jams, and to basically leave laying around the house to grab and practice.
Florence doesn't disappoint! The sound is exactly what you would expect from a parlor guitar. It's a more personal/intimate sound as opposed to a dreadnought size which (to me) is more for performing for a larger audience. Fit and finish - Superb! Sound and tone - Perfect for Blues and /or just sitting around strumming with a couple of friends , or all by yourself at home.
Thanks for your review, Wendell! We also love playing the Blues on our Florence!
Just received the guitar and it exceeds expectations. I've played some other parlor's recently (Gretsch, Fender) but the Florence to me is a much nicer guitar. The neck and fretboard in particular....its is a full scale guitar with a wide nut that makes playing more comfortable than other parlor's. The bag it comes with it is very, very nice. It's padded well with backpack straps, carry handle, pockets, and even a nice tie down strap for the neck inside. With a medium pick strumming sounds good for a body this size. The fit and finish is very good. I couldn't find a blemish. It has a satin feel all around too. Moving your hand around this guitar feels comfy. After holding this guitar and playing it, I would have no reservations buying another Orangewood.
Thanks for the review! Glad you're enjoying your Florence!
They were loaning these out at the hotel (Edgewater in Seattle) I was staying at. How odd to loan guitars if you want to borrow I thought. I was working on a new EP and going to the studio soon so I needed to ensure I had the songs worked out. Well…what I thought might be a cheap quality guitar I had never heard of turned out to be fantastic….
I borrowed the Florence parlor guitar. I looked them up online and was floored they were around 200 bucks. I made a case to the hotel to let me buy it and they didn’t so I ordered one that day. I love the feel, the resonation, and the price. It’s compact enough to take on outings and hotels to work on songs and keep the calluses thick. Is it an expensive Martin, Larrivee, or Taylor? No, but you won’t find a better guitar in this price range period. I recently went to the Gibson Guitar Garage in Nashville and they have been dropping the pricing on Epiphones and I think in large part it’s because companies like Orangewood and Recording King are putting out quality at a lower price point.
The action was a bit high when it arrived but this was dead of winter and a couple cranks clockwise of the truss remedied that. Highly recommended
Thank you for the review, Jon! Glad you got the chance to try out the Florence and decided to purchase one for yourself. Enjoy!
Totally pleased with my entire experience from their web site to their prompt delivery! Perfect little guitar that comes well strung with a box of goodies and a nice bad ! Even had a discount for the holidays. I’m not a Martin or Taylor level of player but it makes me feel good to play my guitar and make my sound. Thank you Orangewood- won’t be my last purchase
Sounds and looks beautiful and I’m having a lot of fun playing it! I’m petite and this Florence feels just right.
