Bought this as a student guitar. Stays in tune. Good set up..VERY HEAVY.Tough for a twelve year old. I would buy another one if the weight issue was improved. I’m glad I have this one

My new favorite guitar

This guitar is better than anything else I have played in this price range. It is pretty, plays well and was set up perfect out of the box. Has best fret work of any guitar I have ever bought. Orangewood is the real deal! Sounds and feels like a much more expensive guitar. Gig bag is great too. Quality craftsmanship with specs that would cost you at least twice as much from other brands. Wish I had bought this as my first guitar. Watch Mary Spender play this guitar on YouTube, the guitar sounds amazing.

Thanks for your review! Enjoy your Oliver Mahogany Live!

Just a pleasure to play

I have owned my Oliver Mahogany Live for 8 months now so have had plenty of time to become familiar with it. In short, I love it and that affair started when I first got it out of the box. I own a couple of dreadnoughts both of which are louder and have deeper bass but the grand concert body is comfortable and provides a good balance between strings which is essential for finger-picking. The build quality is excellent, particularly given the price (with included gig bag.) I could not detect any visible imperfections. The set-up shows attention to detail and the action is spot-on to my taste. The choice of strings works for this guitar and I have no desire to change either the gauge, the composition or the brand. You can strum and flat-pick with it although its great strength is finger-picking. The Fishman pickup works very well. A couple of weeks after bringing the guitar home (to Australia) I played a live solo set. I simply plugged into the stage DI and the sound guy just turned up the volume and an amazing sound came out. It also amplifies well through my small busking amp. The tuners, although clearly not high end do their job reliably. I have only changed the strings once and the tuning settled down very promptly. I have only checked the intonation by playing, not with a tuner but my ears do not detect any string with faulty intonation. Again kudos must go to the set-up team but the build quality, even at this low price point is beyond reproach. My only complaints are that the hard cases were out of stock while I was in the USA or I would have got one and the fact that you cannot get delivery to an international address. Given international shipping costs this is probably a practical issue. Fortunately, I have family in USA and I could collect the guitar when visiting.
I will thank Mary Spender, indie song-writer and YouTuber, for reviewing the guitar favorably on her channel which gave me the confidence to order one. It is currently my go-to acoustic

This guitar is perfect. Plays just as good if not better, than my $800-$1,000 fender guitars. I love it, not a day has gone by where I haven’t played it. Recommend this to anyone
