I bought this for my sister. It's beautiful guitar with a sweet tone. I have an Orangewood Brooklyn, and this is almost as nice, though the neck seems slightly thicker. The finish is flawless and the setup perfect. I've had the chance to play a few other guitars in the price range: a Mitchel solid mahogony top that was is quite as nicely finished and had nowhere near as nice a tone; a Mitchel solid spruce top that was nominally identical to the mahogony one but was really crappy with cracks in the neck and a tone like an oatmeal box; an Alvarez Regent that is pretty comparable, though it's a laminated top. I'm incredibly happy with my sister's Oliver and my Brooklyn. I'd buy another Orangewood in a heartbeat.
I got my Orangewood Oliver Spruce yesterday and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase! The craftsmanship is incredible at this price point, the guitar has great tone and projection, and the set up out of the box is fantastic! Came with a descent gig bag too! I have been looking for a smaller body guitar for fingerpicking/blues playing and am glad I pulled the trigger purchasing this! Don’t let the newer brand fool you, these are amazing instruments! I’d love to try a higher end at some point! Would buy this again without hesitation!
Thanks for your review, Scott!
Very happy with the purchase. Easy to play. Good sound.
The Oliver is a super-solid guitar, given the price point. Nice solid top+gigbag for just 217 (I used a 10% discount code). Set up was okayish, its not a bad set-up, just higher than I want my guitars to be. The initial setup out of the box at the 12 fret low e was around a 2.5-2.6 which is relatively standard. I lowered it to a 2.0-2.1. My only real complaint is how tight the bridge pins are, a beginner probably gonna have some issues string changing. Overall, cant beat it for the price.
